Father Receives Six Body Parts After Autopsy

The six recovered body parts of Obaidullah, also known as Badal, were handed over to his family by police following an autopsy at Dhaka Medical College on Tuesday afternoon. The transfer took place at around 3:30 pm.

According to the family, the chest portion of the body has yet to be recovered. Considering the condition of the remains, the autopsy was completed without this section.

Obaidullah was killed on Thursday night, and his body was dismembered into seven pieces and scattered across different areas of Dhaka. Police recovered two hands, two legs, and the head from locations including Motijheel, Gulistan, and Kamalapur on Friday and Saturday. Identification was confirmed through fingerprints and other forensic methods. Shahin, a roommate, was arrested in connection with the case, and other pieces of the body were recovered based on information he provided.

Obaidullah, 30, was the eldest son of Hamid Mia, a farmer from Tatarkandi village in Sadar Char Union, Shibpur Upazila, Narsingdi. He had two younger brothers and two sisters. Locally, he was known as Badal.

On Tuesday morning, his father Hamid Mia, uncle Mojibur Rahman, and younger brother Jalil Mia went to the morgue to collect the body. After the autopsy, the remains were transported in a refrigerated vehicle, arriving home at approximately 5:45 pm.

Mojibur Rahman told the press, “We have brought six pieces of the body. The chest portion has not yet been recovered. The police said they are still trying to locate it. After Maghrib prayers, the funeral will take place at the Eidgah field near our house, followed by burial in the village cemetery.”

Obaidullah had completed his higher secondary education and had planned to work abroad to support his family but was unable to do so. A few years ago, he worked in a hotel in Dhaka and shared accommodation with several colleagues. Later, he changed his profession and joined a homeopathic medicine company as a marketing officer. He last visited his family home on 11 February and returned to Dhaka the following day after casting his vote.
