Two separate fire incidents occurred in Dhaka on Wednesday (12 November) morning. In front of Ramna Police Station, a police vehicle caught fire. Authorities confirmed that this was not an act of sabotage; the fire started unexpectedly while the vehicle was being worked on. OC Golam Faruk of Ramna Model Police Station said that a battery connection issue caused the fire. The blaze was brought under control and no one was injured. He added, “The fire occurred due to the mechanic’s error.”
Earlier in the morning, a Hayes microbus caught fire in Uttara. Two units of the Fire Service promptly arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire. Duty Officer Rafi Al Faruq stated that the fire started due to engine overheating. Preliminary assessments suggest that a faulty engine or short circuit could also have caused the fire. The front section of the microbus was burnt, but no casualties were reported.
Airport Police Station OC Taslima Akter confirmed, “This was not an act of terrorism. The fire was caused by an engine fault while the vehicle was running. The driver parked the vehicle by the roadside and was moving around the area. We could not find him initially, but later contacted him.”
