A mobile court in Narayanganj has imposed fines totalling BDT 45,000 on representatives of four candidates contesting the Narayanganj-5 (City-Port) parliamentary seat for violating electoral conduct rules. The enforcement action was carried out on Wednesday afternoon across various areas of the port town under the supervision of Executive Magistrate Tarikul Islam of the district administration.
Magistrate Islam explained that the breaches primarily involved the display of unauthorised posters and stickers on vehicles, unlawful decoration or placement of symbols on public roads, and other prohibited activities. He emphasised, “Every candidate and their representatives are responsible for strictly adhering to the code of conduct. Our vigilance will continue to ensure the election proceeds in a fair, transparent, and peaceful manner.”
The representatives fined, along with their candidates, election symbols, nature of violation, and fines, are detailed in the table below:

The district administration stated that the initiative aims to maintain a disciplined and peaceful electoral environment. Officers assured that strict monitoring and decisive action would continue throughout the voting period to prevent further breaches of the code of conduct.
Magistrate Islam cautioned candidates, advising, “Candidates should instruct their representatives and party workers to comply with the law. Any violation of the code will prompt stringent administrative action.”
Local authorities expressed hope that these measures will raise public awareness about proper electoral behaviour and strengthen respect for election regulations. They further noted that systematic monitoring and prompt corrective action are expected to significantly reduce incidents of electoral misconduct in the district.
