Jewel Rana, hailing from Harinakunda in Jhenaidah, has emerged as one of Bangladesh’s most influential content creators. His work primarily captures rural life, agriculture, and the natural environment, blending literary references with vivid storytelling. Through this fusion, his creations entertain while imparting subtle lessons about humanity and nature.
Jewel launched his Facebook page, “Chitto Media”, on 4 February 2025. In less than a year, it has attracted over 3.5 million followers, establishing him as a prominent online figure. His YouTube channel, with nearly 100,000 subscribers, boasts several videos with 20–30 million views each. Since the beginning of 2025, Jewel has published more than 1,350 videos, averaging roughly three uploads per day. The themes consistently revolve around human experiences, the beauty and challenges of nature, and the nuances of village life.
One of his acclaimed videos depicts him assisting farmers in ploughing fields with oxen, interweaving the story of Al Mahmud’s Pankouri with other works of Bengali literature. Another captures a palm tree bent by a storm, symbolising resilience with the message: “No one can endure without inner strength.” These examples showcase how his work conveys profound lessons while remaining accessible to a broad audience.
Jewel completed his postgraduate studies in law at Islamic University in 2018 and briefly practiced as a lawyer. However, he soon realised that traditional professional life could not satisfy his creative and emotional aspirations. His fascination with the soil, rural life, and human stories ultimately guided him toward content creation.
Travelling through the villages of Jhenaidah and Chuadanga, he collaborates with two colleagues, Ikramul Kabir and Hasanuzzaman, to produce narrative-driven videos. Their meticulous attention to detail—waiting patiently for the call of the koel or listening through the night to the cries of a deer—distinguishes their work from conventional content.
Currently, Jewel resides in Jhenaidah town with his wife Nisha and their three-year-old daughter Jesse. His parents and sister continue to live in his native village. Through Chitto Media, Jewel has created a platform that seamlessly integrates rural life, literary storytelling, and the language of nature, delivering content that is educational, humane, and entertaining.
