According to Gazipur Metropolitan Police, the latest death was confirmed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (North Division) S M Shafiqul Islam, who stated that rescue operations and investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances of the collision and identify the vehicle responsible.

Eyewitnesses reported that the bus was travelling normally along the flyover when it was suddenly hit from behind with significant force. The impact caused panic among passengers, with many being thrown off balance as the vehicle veered and sustained heavy damage.

Local residents rushed to the scene immediately after the crash, assisting in rescue efforts before emergency services arrived. Injured passengers were transported to nearby hospitals in critical condition, while others received first aid at the scene.

At least five additional passengers were reported injured, some of them seriously. Medical teams have stated that the condition of several victims remains under close observation.

Preliminary accounts suggest that the truck involved in the collision fled the scene shortly after the incident, although authorities have not yet confirmed its identity or ownership. Police have launched an investigation and are reviewing CCTV footage from the flyover area in an effort to trace the vehicle.

Road safety concerns in industrial zones such as Konabari have long been a pressing issue, with frequent reports of speeding heavy vehicles, congestion, and inadequate enforcement on elevated road sections.

Authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution, particularly on flyovers and busy transport corridors where high-speed collisions often result in severe casualties.

As investigations continue, families of the deceased are preparing to receive the bodies, while the wider community in Gazipur and beyond mourns another tragic reminder of the country’s persistent road safety challenges.
