After an 18-year hiatus from their collaborative work, CeeLo Green and Danger Mouse have resurrected their celebrated musical duo Gnarls Barkley for one last studio album. Titled Atlanta, the record is set for release on 6 March 2026 under the Atlantic-affiliated label 10k Projects. The announcement coincided with the release of the album’s lead single, “Pictures”, marking the duo’s first new music together since 2008.
In a press statement, CeeLo Green revealed that “Pictures” is rooted in his childhood experiences navigating Atlanta’s public transport system. He explained, “I had a middle school principal who, every Friday, would tell me to leave when I arrived at school. I was in eighth grade and would ride the train alone from 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.” This vivid recollection of youthful independence and city life forms the emotional core of the track, offering listeners a blend of nostalgia and introspection.
While Gnarls Barkley has not released a joint album since The Odd Couple in 2008, both artists have maintained prolific solo careers.
CeeLo Green has released multiple studio albums over the past decade:
2012: CeeLo’s Magic Moment
2015: Heart Blanche
2020: CeeLo Green is Thomas Calloway
Additionally, he spent several years as a judge on the television show The Voice and has featured on tracks with Eminem, Tyrese, T.I., and Asher Roth.
Danger Mouse, on the other hand, has focused on collaborative projects, working with artists such as Sparklehorse, Daniele Luppi, and Karen O. Notable recent works include Cheat Codes with Black Thought (2022) and a 2025 single, Wonder, with MorMor. His production expertise has cemented him as one of modern music’s most innovative producers.
The new album, Atlanta, features a diverse tracklist, blending reflective ballads with contemporary experimental sounds:
