The Government of Bangladesh has ordered the simultaneous transfer of 158 Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) across all eight divisions of the country, aiming to enhance administrative efficiency and public service delivery. The Ministry of Public Administration issued the official notification on Wednesday night, detailing the transfer orders and related procedures.
According to the directive, the affected officers must vacate their current positions and report to their new postings by 30 November. Officers who fail to join their assigned offices within the stipulated timeframe will be considered immediately relieved from their current posts from that date. The notification further instructs officers whose office locations have changed to submit a joining letter indicating the previous office name and address. The order has been implemented in the public interest and is effective immediately.
Earlier on Wednesday evening, the government also appointed new UNOs in 166 Upazilas, following the simultaneous transfer of police superintendents across 64 districts earlier in the day. These measures reflect a broader effort to strengthen governance, ensure administrative discipline, and improve the delivery of services to citizens.
Officials emphasised that mass transfers like these are intended to increase operational efficiency, foster transparency, and ensure that local administrations function effectively. UNOs are expected to promptly report to their new postings and collaborate closely with both the local administration and community stakeholders to maintain continuity in administrative activities.
The Ministry underlined that clear deadlines for reporting to new offices are crucial to minimising disruptions and maintaining consistent public service provision. By implementing simultaneous transfers, the government seeks to standardise procedures, accelerate decision-making, and reinforce accountability within the civil administration.
The following table summarises the key details of the transfer initiative:

|---|---|
