Headphones Distract: Youth Killed on Railway Tracks

A young man tragically lost his life on Wednesday morning in Akkelpur, Joypurhat, after being struck by a Dhaka-bound Chilahat Express while walking on the railway line with headphones in his ears.

The deceased, 21-year-old Rimon Hossain, was a resident of Halir Mor area and the son of Babu Hossain. He worked at a local poultry farm and was reportedly traversing the railway line when the fatal accident occurred.

Eyewitnesses reported that Rimon was walking along the tracks with headphones on, which prevented him from hearing the approaching train. The Chilahat Express, travelling at a high speed, struck him instantly, leaving him dead at the scene. Neighbours and passersby immediately alerted the railway police, who recovered the body and initiated an investigation.

The railway authorities confirmed that Rimon’s body was sent to the hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination. Legal procedures and necessary formalities are being carried out in accordance with the law.
