Himalayan Romance: Gen-Z Love Song Released

Nestled in the heart of the Himalayas, under snow-capped peaks and vast blue skies, lies the remote town of Jomsom in Nepal’s Mustang district. Perched at an altitude of 2,760 metres along the banks of the Kali Gandaki River, this picturesque settlement has long captivated filmmakers and travellers alike. Renowned for its breathtaking natural landscapes, challenging terrain, and extreme weather conditions, Jomsom has earned a reputation in Bollywood as a “dream location, yet a formidable challenge” for shooting.

Against this dramatic backdrop, the Bangladeshi musical film O Jon was filmed, featuring actress Sunerah Binte Kamal and model-actor Farukh Ahmed Rehan in the leading roles. The production faced extraordinary challenges, with temperatures plunging between –8°C and –10°C. Despite the biting cold, the snow-covered mountains and serene environment provided a visually stunning setting that elevates the narrative to cinematic artistry.

Reflecting on her experience, Sunerah Binte Kamal said, “Jomsom’s beauty is like a living painting. Shooting at –8°C was truly demanding, but it is a memory I will cherish forever. Audiences will fall not only for the song’s romance but also for the breathtaking scenery.” Farukh Ahmed Rehan added, “Working at such a cinematic location is unique. The cold was intense, yet the visual grandeur of the surroundings made every hardship worthwhile.”

The musical composition of O Jon is equally remarkable. Vocals are provided by Konal and Niloy, with lyrics penned by Asif Iqbal. Music was composed by Dhaka-based Avral Sahir and Kolkata’s Lincoln, who also arranged the orchestration. The film was directed by Tanim Rahman Anju, with post-production efforts uniting teams from Bangladesh, India, and Nepal.

Asif Iqbal, head of Ganchil Music, remarked, “‘O Jon’ narrates the tender story of Gen-Z romance, blending innovative musical and environmental elements at every stage.” Director Tanim Rahman Anju added, “By employing modern technology, we have created a cinematic experience that merges snow, mountains, and love—a testament to cross-border collaboration among Bangladeshi directors, Indian cinematographers, and Nepalese location managers.”
