Husband Accuses Wife of Marriage Fraud

In Sadarupur Upazila, Faridpur, a husband has publicly accused his wife of committing fraud through marriage, intimidation, and filing false legal cases. The allegations were made at a press conference held on Sunday, 8 March, at the Sadarupur Upazila Digital Press Club, where the husband, Md. Arif Billah, detailed the sequence of events.

Md. Arif Billah, a resident of Rajpat area in Kashiani Upazila, Gopalganj, and an imam by profession, stated that he married Labiba Akter, the daughter of Lutfor Rahman Molla from Lokharkandi, on 1 October 2019. The couple has three children together.

According to Arif Billah, the problems began on 10 February 2022, when Labiba left the family home, leaving their children behind, while he was at the mosque for prayer. He later discovered that she had gone to live with another man. Through court inquiries, Arif claims he learned that Labiba had previously engaged in multiple similar marriages, allegedly defrauding other men of money.

A formal complaint has reportedly been filed at the local police station.

At the press conference, Arif Billah said, “I have been socially and mentally devastated by the continued deception by this woman and her family. I appeal to the authorities for a fair and thorough investigation and justice.”
