A harrowing act of domestic violence has surfaced in the industrial heart of Gazipur, where a garment worker allegedly strangled his wife to death before callously informing her father of the murder. The victim, identified as 28-year-old Mastura Akter Suma, was discovered dead in her locked apartment on Friday morning. Her husband, Jalal Uddin Dulu, reportedly fled the scene immediately after making a chilling phone call to his father-in-law, Mirajul Islam. According to family members, Dulu’s words were brief and cold: “I have killed your daughter. Her body is in the room; come and take it away.”
The tragedy unfolded at ‘Ramiz Villa’ in the Chandna Haji Market area of Gazipur Metropolitan. Both the victim and the suspect were employed at the Tex Euro BD garment factory and lived as tenants on the third floor of the building. Neighbours reported that Suma had returned from her shift at approximately 10:00 pm on Thursday to attend to household chores and cooking. Her husband arrived home around midnight. Investigators believe that a violent altercation broke out shortly after his arrival, culminating in Dulu allegedly strangling Suma to death under the cover of night.
The grim reality of the situation came to light at 7:30 am on Friday when Dulu placed the predatory phone call to the victim’s father. Stricken with panic, Mirajul Islam immediately alerted relatives residing in the vicinity. Upon reaching the flat, they found the entrance padlocked from the outside. Local police were summoned, and after breaking the lock, they discovered Suma’s lifeless body concealed beneath a blanket on the bed.
