A violent altercation erupted in Machimpur village, located in Titash Upazila, Comilla, on Thursday following an Iftar gathering, leaving at least four people injured. Local sources reported that the dispute originated over invitations—or the lack thereof—to the event organised by supporters of Md. Osman Gani Bhuiyan, the president of Titash Upazila BNP. The disagreement quickly escalated into a physical confrontation.
Incident Details
The clash occurred after the Iftar event at Md. Osman Gani Bhuiyan’s residence. Local residents promptly transported the injured to Titash Health Complex, while one of the victims, Mojibur Rahman, was sent to a hospital in Dhaka for advanced treatment due to the severity of his injuries. Law enforcement officers arrived on the scene following reports of the fight and arrested one individual identified as Robin.
According to the complainant, Md. Tafazzal Hossain, he had attended the Iftar in response to an official invitation and as part of his social responsibility. He stated that after the meal, while speaking with BNP leader Gazi Hanif, he was suddenly confronted and verbally assaulted by Anisur Rahman, the organising secretary of Kalakandi Union BNP, who accused him of being a proxy for the ruling Awami League. The verbal exchange quickly devolved into a physical scuffle, resulting in injuries to four individuals.

Police and Local Response
Inspector (Investigation) Mofizul Islam of Titash Police Station stated, “Upon receiving news of the fight in Machimpur, police promptly reached the scene and restored order. One individual, Robin, has been detained and sent to jail following court proceedings. Law and order have since returned to normal.”
Md. Tafazzal Hossain has filed a formal case against seven individuals, including Anisur Rahman. Attempts to contact the accused for comment were unsuccessful, as he reportedly terminated the call. Local residents suggest that both political rivalry and personal disagreements contributed to the violent episode.
The incident has heightened political tension in Titash Upazila. However, authorities maintain that administrative and legal measures have been implemented to ensure continued public safety and prevent further conflict.
