In a tragic incident in Munshiganj, police have recovered the bloodied bodies of a mother and her young daughter from their residence in Sirajdikhan Upazila. The incident has left the local community in shock, while the husband of the deceased remains at large.
The bodies of Amena Begum (35) and her ten-year-old daughter, Mariam, were discovered around 12:30 pm on Monday (19 January) in a rented house located in South Rajanagar village, under Rajanagar Union. The pair were living as tenants in the home of local resident Nuruzzaman Sarkar.
According to police and local sources, neighbours became alarmed after noticing the bodies inside the home and immediately alerted the authorities. Sirajdikhan police quickly arrived at the scene and recovered the bodies for further investigation.

The deceased’s husband, Mizan Mia, is a daily-wage labourer and has been missing since the incident, raising suspicions of his involvement. Munshiganj Superintendent of Police (SP) Md. Menhajul Alam confirmed the case and indicated that the deaths are being treated as a potential homicide.
“Preliminary findings suggest that this is a murder case. The husband is among the prime suspects due to his disappearance following the incident,” SP Alam said. “We are collecting evidence from the scene, and the bodies will be sent to the morgue for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.”
Police have launched an intensive search operation to apprehend the fugitive and to uncover the motives behind the brutal killings. Meanwhile, the local community has expressed deep grief and concern over the shocking crime, calling for swift justice.
