Bangladesh has made a notable leap in the global passport rankings, reflecting an improvement in international mobility for its citizens. According to the latest Henley Passport Index, the country has risen five places, now securing the 95th position worldwide. Bangladeshi passport holders can presently travel visa-free to 37 countries, marking a significant enhancement in travel freedom.
The Henley Passport Index, published annually by the London-based citizenship and residence consultancy Henley & Partners, relies on data provided by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to rank passports according to the number of destinations their holders can access without a prior visa. In the previous report, released in October 2025, Bangladesh was ranked 100th, meaning it has gained ground in a competitive global landscape.
Visa-free travel offers Bangladeshi citizens greater convenience for tourism, business, and education purposes, without the administrative hurdles and costs of obtaining visas in advance. The 37 countries currently open to Bangladeshi travellers range across Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific, providing a diverse array of destinations.
