Inquilab Forum Demands Legal Capture of Killer

In the wake of the shocking murder of Sharif Osman Hadi, the cultural organisation Inquilab Forum has reiterated its call for the alleged killer to be apprehended swiftly, insisting that this must be achieved through lawful means rather than through any violent confrontations. On Sunday evening (21 December), the organisation published a statement on its verified Facebook page emphasising its stance against a so-called “gunfight” scenario.

The post urged the nation’s law enforcement agencies to act promptly in identifying the perpetrators and bringing them under the full weight of the law. It further cautioned against the circulation of sensationalised news on social and mainstream media, which, according to Inquilab Forum, could generate unrest and fear within society. “We demand a process-driven, peaceful approach to justice,” the post underlined.

Earlier, Inquilab Forum had announced plans for a protest march to press authorities for the immediate arrest of those responsible for Osman Hadi’s killing. The Facebook statement confirmed that the demonstration will take place on Monday (22 December), commencing at 3:00 pm from Shaheed Hadi Chattar in Shahbagh and concluding at the National Martyrs’ Memorial. Forum leaders stated that the primary objective of the march is to draw administrative attention to the urgent need for the killer’s capture.

Meanwhile, the principal accused in the case, Faisal Karim Masud, also known as Daud Khan Rahul, has been barred by the court from leaving the country. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) announced in a press release on Sunday that investigations into Faisal Karim Masud and his associates had uncovered irregular bank transactions exceeding BDT 1.27 billion. According to the CID, tracking these financial movements is a crucial component of probing the broader network behind the homicide.

Both the organisation and law enforcement authorities have emphasised that a rapid yet secure arrest is vital for maintaining public safety and upholding the rule of law. Inquilab Forum concluded its message by stressing that no dramatic or violent spectacle is desired—only lawful, peaceful, and effective action that ensures justice is served without jeopardising societal stability.
