Iqra Discovered Two Years Ago That Alvi Was Involved with Another Woman

Afra Ivnat Ikra, wife of renowned Dhaka television actor Jaher Alvi, was found dead at her Mirpur residence on 28 February 2026. Her untimely death has been linked by family and close associates to prolonged psychological abuse and her husband’s extramarital involvement.

Her father, Kabir Hayat Khan, lodged a formal complaint at Pallabi Police Station the following Sunday. The complaint identifies Jaher Alvi as the primary accused and his mother, Nasrin Sultana Shiuli, as the second accused. Ikra’s maternal uncle, Sheikh Tanvir Ahmed, confirmed the details of the incident to the press.

Marriage and Family Life

Ikra and Alvi were married in 2013 after a period of courtship. The couple had a five-year-old son. Despite their public appearances, family members allege that Ikra endured persistent emotional abuse from the outset of the marriage.

Approximately two years ago, Ikra reportedly discovered her husband’s extramarital relationship, which exacerbated tensions in the household and led to continuous domestic conflicts.

Allegations of Mental Harassment

The police complaint highlights repeated mental harassment and provocation from both Jaher Alvi and his mother. According to the family, Alvi often posted derogatory content about Ikra on social media. On 27 February, he reportedly shared a photograph with another woman, further aggravating Ikra’s emotional distress.

The family asserts that the cumulative effect of long-term humiliation, manipulation, and emotional abuse drove Ikra to take her own life.

Incident and Response

On the day of her death, Nasrin Sultana reportedly informed Ikra’s uncle, S.M. Zayed Al Fattah, that Ikra had hanged herself in her bedroom using a scarf. She was rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital, where doctors confirmed her death. Pallabi Police conducted a scene investigation and arranged a post-mortem examination.
