Iran’s military has declared it is on “maximum defensive alert” amid escalating threats of a potential U.S. attack. The country’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that Iranian forces are fully prepared to confront any form of aggression. This statement comes as tensions soar in the wake of U.S. warnings and ongoing domestic unrest.
According to Iran’s state news agency Fars, Air Force Commander Sardar Mousavi confirmed that the military is ready to respond decisively. He highlighted that missile stockpiles have been increased compared with the period preceding June’s 12-day conflict with Israel, and that all previous wartime damages have now been repaired. “Our forces are at their peak readiness,” Mousavi said.
Meanwhile, Defence Minister Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh issued a stern warning that any attack on Iran would meet with “many surprises” for the aggressor. Speaking during a meeting of the National Security Council, Nasirzadeh stated:
“If this threat materialises, we will defend the country with our full strength and fight to the last drop of blood. Our resistance will be excruciating for any aggressor.”
He further cautioned U.S. regional allies that any assistance to attacks on Iran would render them “legitimate targets”. The minister confirmed that missile capabilities and military production capacity have been bolstered since the previous confrontations with Israel, ensuring Iran is now better prepared than ever.
The rising threat of conflict has also led to a suspension of direct high-level communication between the two nations. A senior U.S. official told Reuters that diplomatic channels between Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff are temporarily suspended.
Iran has additionally warned that any attack on its territory could trigger retaliatory strikes against U.S. military bases in the Middle East, heightening regional security concerns.
