Tehran has issued a stern warning in response to the escalating hostile rhetoric against Iran, asserting that such provocations will not go unanswered. In a highly charged statement, Iran’s Chief of Staff, Major General Amir Hatami, threatened that any aggressors targeting the country could face the cutting off of their hands as a punitive measure.
Speaking on Wednesday to the 86th course students at the Iranian Army Command and Staff University, General Hatami described the current global situation as a period of intense geopolitical realignment, which he termed an effort to establish a “new world order.” He emphasised that these manoeuvres by global powers have generated severe instability and security crises both regionally and internationally.
Highlighting historical grievances, General Hatami cited the fall of the Ottoman Empire and the establishment of Israel as part of a conspiracy orchestrated by global powers. He referenced a statement made by former US President Joe Biden after the Al-Aqsa flood operations, noting that Israel’s continued existence is strategically supported by the West, effectively functioning as a proxy. According to General Hatami, Iran’s strategic position and the principles of the Islamic Revolution have considerably strengthened the nation, prompting adversaries to increasingly target Iran’s national power sources.
He also clarified that domestic protests or civil discontent are not linked to foreign leaders, including the US president or Israeli prime minister. “The Iranian people have demonstrated extraordinary prudence and patience, remaining separate from rioters while preventing the implementation of foreign agendas,” General Hatami stated, commending the public for their awareness and resilience.
General Hatami further claimed that the Iranian military, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and law enforcement agencies, with civilian support, achieved a historic victory during a 12-day intense conflict. He warned that any miscalculation by adversaries would have “catastrophic consequences.” Reinforcing his earlier threat, he declared that the armed forces are fully prepared to protect national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the political system, pledging to safeguard every Iranian citizen—even at the cost of his own life.
