Islami Bank Rewards Remittance Clients With Motorcycles

Two more customers of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC have been awarded motorcycles under an ongoing remittance festival campaign run in partnership with Ria Money Transfer, as the initiative continues to attract attention during the holy month of Ramadan.

The latest announcement confirms the selection of the 19th and 20th winners, who were chosen through a digital raffle draw conducted on Sunday (29 March) at Islami Bank Tower in Dhaka. The programme forms part of a broader effort to promote secure and formal remittance channels while recognising customers who receive funds from abroad.

New Winners Recognised

Md. Main Uddin, a client of the bank’s Nangalkot branch in Cumilla, emerged as the 19th motorcycle winner. His selection was linked to a remittance sent by Nasir Uddin, a Bangladeshi expatriate based in the United States.

The 20th motorcycle was awarded to Md. Ziaul Haque, a ‘Cellfin’ digital banking user attached to the Feni branch. His prize-winning remittance originated from Mohammad Mominul Haque, who is currently residing in South Africa.

Both recipients were selected via a transparent digital raffle mechanism, held in the presence of senior bank officials and partner representatives to ensure credibility and fairness.

Ceremony and Officials in Attendance

The raffle draw ceremony brought together senior leadership from Islami Bank and its remittance partner. Managing Director Md. Omar Faruk Khan attended as chief guest, underscoring the institution’s commitment to strengthening remittance services.

Other notable attendees included Deputy Managing Director Md. Rafiqul Islam; Head of Foreign Remittance Services Division Md. Motahar Hossain Mollah; Head of Overseas Banking Division Mohammad Shahadat Hossain; Head of Foreign Trade Processing Division Md. Daud Khan; Country Manager of Ria Money Transfer Bangladesh Rashedul Islam Talukder; and Assistant Operations Manager Md. Arafat Hossain.

Campaign Structure and Objectives

The remittance festival campaign has been carefully structured to run throughout Ramadan, offering daily incentives to customers who receive remittances through Ria Money Transfer. On each banking day—Sunday through Thursday—a digital draw is held, with one recipient winning a motorcycle.

Encouraging Formal Remittance Flows

Bank officials reiterated that such campaigns are instrumental in encouraging expatriates to remit funds through authorised banking channels, thereby reducing dependence on informal systems. Formal remittance pathways ensure greater security, transparency, and efficiency for both senders and beneficiaries.

Furthermore, increased use of official channels contributes directly to strengthening the national economy by enhancing foreign currency inflows. This is particularly significant for Bangladesh, where remittances constitute a major pillar of economic resilience.

The collaboration between Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC and Ria Money Transfer reflects a wider industry shift towards combining financial incentives with digital convenience. By integrating promotional initiatives with modern banking platforms such as ‘Cellfin’, the bank aims to deepen customer trust and expand its service reach.

As Ramadan progresses, additional winners are expected to be announced, sustaining enthusiasm around the campaign. Islami Bank has expressed confidence that the initiative will continue to foster stronger engagement with expatriate communities while delivering meaningful rewards to customers across the country.
