The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued alerts for gusty winds and thundery showers in parts of the country, linked to a low-pressure system forming over the Bay of Bengal. The department reported that a trough of low pressure currently extends over West Bengal and adjacent regions, while the seasonal normal low-pressure area remains positioned over the southern Bay of Bengal.
Short-Term Outlook
From Sunday, 22 March, 6:00 p.m., for the next 24 hours, isolated locations in Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions may experience gusty winds accompanied by thundery rainfall and occasional lightning. The remainder of the country is expected to see partly cloudy skies with generally dry conditions. Daytime temperatures may rise slightly by 1–2°C, with night temperatures seeing a marginal increase.

Advisory and Safety Measures
Residents in the affected divisions are advised to stay alert for sudden gusts of wind and lightning. Mariners and fishermen should exercise extra caution at sea, particularly in areas near the Bay of Bengal, as the low-pressure system could make conditions hazardous.
Elsewhere, mostly dry weather with occasional cloud cover is expected. Temperatures across the country are forecast to remain slightly above seasonal averages.
The Meteorological Department will continue to monitor the low-pressure system closely and issue updated warnings if it intensifies or shifts, ensuring communities and authorities are prepared for sudden weather changes.
