A controversial video involving Gazi Nazrul Islam, a leader of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and the Member of Parliament for the Satkhira-4 (Shyamnagar) constituency, has sparked widespread political and social discourse after circulating rapidly across various social media platforms.

The footage, which entered the public domain on Monday evening (20th July), depicts the politician in an intimate setting alongside an unidentified woman inside a room. Speaking on behalf of the leadership, Maulana Azizur Rahman, Secretary of Satkhira District Jamaat-e-Islami and head of its media department, provided a different explanation regarding the incident.

“The video has come to our attention,” stated Maulana Azizur Rahman. “The Member of Parliament has informed us that the woman featured in the recording is his second wife, and the marriage took place with the explicit consent of his first wife. We are currently investigating how this private footage was leaked into the public domain.”

When questioned regarding the timeline of the matrimonial union, the Jamaat secretary acknowledged that whilst he did not possess the precise date of the solemnisation, he had been assured that the marriage took place some time ago in accordance with legal and religious customs.
