The central executive committee of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JASAD) has expressed profound grief over the passing of Advocate Masud Parvez Nawsad, a courageous leader of the student movement opposing communal extremism and military dictatorship. Nawsad also served as Joint General Secretary of JASAD’s Sirajganj district branch and was the elected Vice President of SM Hall at Rajshahi University in 1990.
In a condolence message issued on Thursday, 29 January 2026, the JASAD central committee paid homage to the late leader, acknowledging his lifelong dedication to the party’s ideals, the nation, and the people. The committee extended heartfelt sympathies to his bereaved family, relatives, and political colleagues.
The statement read:
“Advocate Masud Parvez Nawsad was an idealistic, uncompromising, and tireless political activist. Without concern for personal gain, he devoted his life to upholding the principles of the nation and JASAD. Until his last day, he carried the party’s red flag high, free from any political confusion.”
The committee further highlighted Nawsad’s resilience, noting that in 1988, following the night after Eid, he survived brutal persecution by communal fundamentalist forces. Despite this traumatic experience, he never wavered in his commitment to the struggle against communalism and authoritarian rule, setting a remarkable example for generations of activists.
Advocate Nawsad passed away on 29 January 2026 at 9:14 a.m. in Sirajganj at the age of 62, leaving behind his wife, two sons, two daughters, and numerous relatives, colleagues, and admirers.
His funeral prayers (Janaza) are scheduled for 4:30 p.m. the same day at Malshapara Municipal Graveyard Madrasah Field in Sirajganj, where he will be laid to rest.
The JASAD central committee prayed for the eternal peace of his soul and once again expressed deep condolences to his grieving family.
