Jubadal Leader Arrested with Cocktails and Petrol Bombs

Jessore police have arrested Al Masud Rana, a leader of the Jubadal party, following a raid on his residence in the Raipara area of the city, where authorities recovered several incendiary devices and sharp weapons.

The operation was conducted on Tuesday, 25 November, at approximately 6:30 AM by the Jessore Kotwali Model Police. Al Masud Rana, the General Secretary of Ward 6 of the Youth League and the son of Nazrul Islam from Raja Bardakant Road in Chachra Raipara, was taken into custody during the raid.

According to OC Kazi Babul Hossain of Jessore Kotwali Model Police, the raid followed receipt of confidential information indicating the presence of bombs and weapons in Rana’s house. Acting on the tip-off, police discovered seven cocktails, three petrol bomb-like glass bottles, a knife, and two sickles hidden in the backyard near the kitchen. Rana was questioned at the scene, and authorities are currently investigating whether the recovered items belong to him.

Preparations are underway to file a formal case, and Rana is expected to be presented in court later in the afternoon. The police emphasised that the investigation is ongoing, and all relevant details will be examined to establish responsibility.

Reacting to the arrest, Sheikh Rabiul Islam Rabi, Secretary-General of Jessore City Jubadal, stated, “I have heard about the arrest of Al Masud Rana with weapons. He has been involved in politics for a long time. However, I believe he is being framed through a conspiracy.”

He added, “We are looking into the matter. The Jubadal party has never supported terrorist activities, and the party will not take responsibility for the actions of an individual.”

The case has raised concerns about political violence and the possession of illegal weapons, highlighting the challenges local authorities face in maintaining law and order amid party politics. Police continue to urge the public to provide any additional information that could assist in the investigation.
