The Delhi High Court has branded allegations by Karishma Kapoor’s children as “pure theatrics,” as a bitter inheritance dispute continues following the death of their father, Bollywood actor Sanjay Kapoor.
Sanjay Kapoor passed away unexpectedly on 12 June in London during a polo match, reportedly after suffering a heart attack caused by a bee sting. His untimely death sparked a complex legal battle over his considerable estate, pitting his second wife, Priya Kapoor, against his children from his first marriage, Kian and Samaira.
Recently, the children filed a new complaint in court, claiming that their two months of college fees in the United States had not been paid. Represented by veteran lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani, the children sought legal intervention to address the alleged lapse.
However, the court was quick to reject the allegations. “We will not waste even 30 seconds on this matter. This issue should not have reached the court in the first place. We refuse to entertain such staged claims,” stated Justice Jyoti Singh. Priya Kapoor’s lawyer, Rajeev Nayar, countered the allegations, emphasising that the fees had already been settled and that the claims were entirely unfounded.
Sanjay Kapoor’s sudden passing and the ensuing inheritance dispute have attracted intense media attention, highlighting the complex dynamics within the Kapoor family. Legal wrangling over his estate began immediately after his death, further complicated by delays in transporting his body from London to Delhi. As the feud unfolds, it remains to be seen how the inheritance issues will ultimately be resolved between Priya Kapoor and Karishma’s children.
