BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is reportedly in a critical condition and remains under intensive care at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka. On the night of 28 November, Law adviser Asif Nazrul visited her to check on her health and offer support, highlighting the ongoing concern of the party’s senior leadership.
Shairul Kabir Khan, an official from the BNP Chairperson’s media wing, stated that the visit was made on behalf of Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus. Along with Asif Nazrul, the Chief Adviser’s special assistant Monir Haider was also present, with BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir accompanying them to the hospital.
Khaleda Zia is currently in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU), where a dedicated medical board is closely monitoring her condition. Sources say that while her situation remains serious, doctors are providing round-the-clock supervision to stabilise her health.
Political analysts observe that the careful attention of senior BNP leaders reflects both concern for Khaleda Zia’s personal wellbeing and recognition of her critical role in the party’s organisational structure. The visit illustrates the party’s commitment to ensuring that top leadership remains fully informed about her condition and can respond appropriately to developments.
Furthermore, the presence of multiple senior officials signals the importance of maintaining party unity and morale during periods of uncertainty. By publicly demonstrating concern for their leader’s health, BNP leadership aims to reassure both supporters and the wider public of their active engagement with one of the country’s most significant political figures. The visit is therefore as much about medical oversight as it is about political solidarity and organisational stability.
