Legendary Athlete Shamima Sattar Mimo Passes Away

Bangladesh has lost one of its most distinguished sporting figures, Shamima Sattar Mimo, a former national athlete, devoted organiser, and recipient of the National Sports Award. She passed away last night at her residence in Dhaka after suffering a sudden heart attack, leaving the nation’s sports community in deep mourning.

Family sources revealed that Mimo had long struggled with heart disease and vertigo. In recent months, her health had declined, impairing her mobility and ability to recognise people. Although she experienced a brief recovery and attempted to return to sports administration and mentoring, her revival was tragically cut short. In accordance with her wishes, her remains will be taken to Dinajpur and interred beside her father.
