LNG supply has decreased, gas pressure will remain low.

Due to scheduled maintenance and repair work, liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies will be temporarily reduced, resulting in lower gas pressure across several regions of the country.

Petrobangla issued a notice on Wednesday, 25 February, informing the public about the planned supply adjustments. According to the state-run organisation, from 11:00 AM to 5:30 PM on Wednesday, LNG supplied from the FSRU facility in Maheshkhali and managed by Accelerate Energy will be curtailed for routine maintenance and upkeep activities.

As a consequence, some areas may experience reduced gas pressure during the affected period. Petrobangla has expressed sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused to consumers and assured that the measures are necessary to ensure the safety and reliability of the gas infrastructure.

The maintenance initiative is part of ongoing efforts to maintain operational efficiency, prevent potential system faults, and ensure uninterrupted energy supply in the long term. Experts have noted that periodic reductions in LNG supply are common in energy management worldwide, and such steps are essential to safeguard pipelines and storage facilities.

Petrobangla also urged gas consumers to use energy judiciously during the maintenance window and to report any critical issues promptly to the local gas distribution offices. Industrial users, in particular, are advised to plan their operations accordingly to mitigate the impact of reduced gas flow.

The authority further reassured citizens that full gas pressure will be restored immediately after the maintenance period concludes. Officials emphasised that such preventive maintenance measures are part of a broader strategy to enhance the reliability of the national gas network, which serves millions of residential, commercial, and industrial users.

Petrobangla concluded its notice with an appeal for public understanding and cooperation, stressing that temporary inconvenience is unavoidable in the interest of long-term energy security and safety.
