A 45-year-old man, identified as Amir Hossain Sarder, was killed following a domestic dispute involving his younger siblings in the Gosairhat Upazila of Shariatpur district. The fatal altercation occurred on Tuesday night (16 June) at approximately 10:00 pm in Patti village, under the administrative jurisdiction of the upazila. The victim succumbed to head injuries whilst being transported to a regional hospital, and the accused perpetrator remains at large.

According to a formal statement provided by Rashida Begum, the sister of the deceased, the fatal conflict originated from a financial dispute among the siblings. The accused, Jewel Sarder, had allegedly stolen 2,100 Bangladeshi Taka (BDT) from his younger brother, Sohel Sarder, without his knowledge or consent.
On Tuesday night, a physical confrontation ensued between Sohel and Jewel regarding the missing funds. Upon observing the altercation, the eldest brother, Amir Hossain Sarder, intervened in an attempt to pacify his younger siblings and de-escalate the domestic dispute.
During the intervention, the conflict intensified. Jewel Sarder subsequently seized a piece of wooden timber (locally referred to as a wooden rowa) and struck Amir Hossain Sarder severely on the head. The impact caused Amir Hossain to collapse to the ground immediately with critical trauma.
Family members and local residents quickly extracted the unconscious victim from the scene and arranged for emergency transport to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital for advanced medical intervention. However, Amir Hossain Sarder succumbed to his physiological trauma en route and was pronounced dead before arrival at the medical facility. Following the assault, Jewel Sarder fled the locality to evade law enforcement authorities.
