In a disturbing incident at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), the body of a young woman was left at the emergency department by a man claiming to be her husband, who subsequently fled the scene. The incident occurred on Monday evening, raising immediate concerns among hospital staff and authorities regarding the circumstances surrounding her death. Police have estimated the deceased woman’s age to be approximately 20 years.
According to Md. Hasan, a private trollyman at DMCH’s emergency department, the man arrived at around 6:30 pm with the woman in a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw. He then transferred her into a hospital trolli, claiming to be her husband. The man insisted that a relative of his would arrive shortly, after which the patient could be formally admitted.
For nearly two hours, the man waited outside the emergency department with the woman still in the trolli. Despite repeated assurances that she would be taken inside, he continuously delayed the process, providing various excuses. At approximately 8:15 pm, in a calculated move, he left the deceased woman in the trolli and fled the hospital premises. Doctors on duty later examined the woman and confirmed her death.
Inspector Md. Faruk, in charge of the hospital police camp, revealed that there were dark marks observed on the woman’s chin. Her body has been preserved in the hospital morgue for autopsy. Police are currently attempting to establish both the identity of the woman and the exact cause of her death.
The individual who brought her to the hospital remains at large, and the matter has been reported to the relevant police station. Authorities have initiated a formal investigation into the case. Hospital officials and law enforcement have urged anyone with information about the deceased or the man claiming to be her husband to come forward.
