Details of the Orchestrated Attack
The victim, a teenage girl currently enrolled in the ninth grade, had been residing at her grandmother’s house in Taltala Sarkarpada village within the Khalisha Chapani Union to pursue her secondary education. The tragedy unfolded on Sunday, the 5th of April, while the young girl was temporarily left alone at the residence.
Earlier that morning, the girl’s mother and grandmother had travelled to Rangpur city for a pre-arranged medical consultation. Exploiting her isolation, two local youths—identified as Kajal Rana (21) and Munna Islam Mannan (24)—reportedly entered the premises at approximately 2:00 pm. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the perpetrators forcibly abducted the girl and dragged her into a nearby maize field.
To ensure she could not raise an alarm, the assailants reportedly used a cloth to gag her. She was then held captive in the secluded field for five hours, during which she was repeatedly assaulted. The suspects fled the scene as evening approached, leaving the victim in a critical physical and psychological state.
Rescue and Medical Intervention
When the girl failed to return to the house by dusk, concerned neighbours and local villagers initiated a frantic search of the surrounding areas. At approximately 7:00 pm, she was discovered in the maize field, suffering from severe injuries and profound trauma.
The victim’s grandmother and mother returned from Rangpur at 8:00 pm to find the village in turmoil. Upon learning of the horrific ordeal their child had endured, they immediately sought legal recourse. The authorities were notified, and the girl was moved to a medical facility for urgent care.
