In Manikganj district town, a serious allegation has emerged involving the coercion of a young woman into sexual activity at a local beauty parlour. Acting on reports, the police conducted a rescue operation late Saturday night, successfully securing the victim and arresting three individuals directly involved. The arrested have since been formally charged with rape and sexual assault.
The three arrested individuals are the owner of the beauty parlour, Ratna Yasmin (40), her son Md. Tushar Rahman (24), and a young employee, Taznin Akter, also known as Chandni (23). The injured victim has been admitted to the 250-bed General Hospital in Manikganj Sadar for medical treatment.
According to the police complaint, the beauty parlour had been operating as a front for sexual exploitation for an extended period, orchestrated by Ratna Yasmin and her associates. The victim, who was employed at the parlour, was reportedly forced into sexual activity against her will. The complaint further reveals that the coercion intensified when the victim’s younger sister visited her home last Wednesday. The suspects allegedly attempted to involve her sister in the illicit activities, to which the victim refused.
Late Saturday night, at approximately 1:00 AM, the suspects reportedly visited the victim’s residence to exert pressure. The victim claims she was physically assaulted and forcibly taken to the parlour, where she suffered further abuse. According to the complaint, the perpetrators beat her with rods, restrained her by tying her hands and confining her with shackles, and ultimately subjected her to further humiliation by cutting her hair with scissors and smearing ink on her face.
Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ikram Hossain confirmed that the victim has filed a case against five individuals, accusing them of rape and physical assault. “Three suspects have already been apprehended, and operations are ongoing to arrest the remaining culprits,” he stated.
