Friday Closures of Shops, Markets and Tourist Spots in Dhaka

On Fridays, several areas in Dhaka witness the closure of shops, markets, and tourist attractions. The list includes many of the city’s historic markets and commercial centres.

Shops Closed: Banglabazar, Patuatuli, Farashganj, Shyambazar, Jurain, Karimullahbag, Postogola, Shyampur, Mirhazirbag, Dolaipara, Tipu Sultan Road, Dhupkhola, Gandaria, Doyagonj, Swamibagh, Dholai Khal, Joykali Mandir, South-western part of Jatrabari, Wari, Ahsan Manzil, Lalbagh, Kotwali Thana, Banshal, Nawabpur, Sadarghat, Tantibazar, Laxmibazar, Shankhari Bazar, Chankharpul, and the southern part of Gulistan.

Markets Closed: Azimpur Super Market, Gulistan Hawkers Market, Farashganj Timber Market, Shyambazar Wholesale Market, Samad Super Market, Rahmania Super Market, Idris Super Market, Doyagonj Bazar, Dhupkhola Field Market, Chawk Bazar, Babu Bazar, Noya Bazar, Captain Bazar, Rajdhani Super Market, Doyagonj City Corporation Market, Islampur Cloth Shops, Choto Katara, Boro Katara Wholesale Market, Sharif Mansion, Phulbaria Market, and Sandra Super Market.

Tourist Spots Closed: The Military Museum (Bijoy Sarani) is usually open from 10:30 am to 4:00 pm, but it remains closed on Thursdays and Fridays. The National Museum of Science and Technology in Agargaon is also closed on Thursdays and Fridays. From Saturday to Wednesday, it opens daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Residents are advised to plan their market visits accordingly, considering these Friday closures to avoid inconvenience.
