Bangladesh’s iconic band Meghdol celebrated its 23rd anniversary on 22 January, marking over two decades of creative influence in the country’s music scene. To commemorate this milestone, the band announced a special single concert and the release of the final three songs from their third studio album, Aluminium-er Dana.
The forthcoming tracks, titled Carnival, Bagh, and Tare Kothay Khuje Pai, have completed recording, with music videos currently in production. Lead vocalist and lyricist Shibu Kumar Shil stated, “These three songs are a special celebration of our 23-year musical journey. They will form the concluding section of our new album. I have written, composed, and sung Carnival, while the lyrics and composition for Bagh and Tare Kothay Khuje Pai have been created by Suman (Mezbaur Rahman). Bagh will be released first, followed by the other two tracks.”
Reflecting on the anniversary celebrations, Shil added, “We marked our 20th anniversary with a large-scale event. This year, the gathering will be smaller, but we plan a special concert after Eid. Looking ahead, for our 25th anniversary, we aim to release a live album, with preparations beginning soon.”
Meghdol’s previous releases from Aluminium-er Dana have received widespread acclaim. The 2022 single E Hawa became a major hit and was featured in Suman’s film Hawa. The album’s title track was released in August 2023, preceded by the band’s performance of Bonbibi on Coke Studio Bangla’s second season in March of the same year.
