Meherab Returns After Musical Hiatus

After several years away from the forefront of the music scene, singer Meherab—once a standout name from the popular talent competition Closeup One—is preparing to reintroduce himself to audiences with a new single that reflects both artistic maturity and emotional depth.

Meherab first rose to prominence in 2005 through the televised competition, where his distinctive vocal tone, individualistic singing style, and versatile stage presence quickly earned him widespread attention. The exposure provided a strong foundation for his subsequent career, allowing him to establish himself not only as a vocalist but also as a composer and music director. Over the years, he has contributed consistently to the contemporary Bangladeshi music landscape, balancing creative experimentation with mainstream appeal.

Now returning after a noticeable hiatus, Meherab is set to release a new solo track titled “Bhalobashte Ki Bhoy Hoy” (“Is There Fear in Loving?”). The song marks a renewed phase in his artistic journey and is expected to reconnect him with both long-time followers and newer listeners.

The lyrics are penned by National Film Award-winning lyricist Rubi Islam Jibon, whose writing is known for its emotional nuance and lyrical sophistication. Meherab himself has composed the melody and provided the vocals, underscoring his continued engagement with multiple dimensions of music creation. The arrangement has been crafted by Adib Kabir, a contemporary music director recognised for blending modern sound design with melodic sensibilities.

The accompanying music video has been directed by noted filmmaker Chandan Roy Chowdhury. It features performances by models Jaya Mirza and Tonmoy Sabi, while Meherab also appears in select sequences, adding a personal visual dimension to the narrative. According to the production house, the official release will take place on 11 June via their digital video platform, alongside distribution on multiple streaming services to ensure international accessibility.
