Microbus Catches Fire in Uttara, No Casualties

A microbus caught fire in Uttara, Dhaka, on Wednesday (12 November) at 7:18 am. Two units of the Fire Service promptly arrived at the scene and brought the blaze under control.

Duty Officer Rafi Al Faruq of the Fire Service control room stated that the fire started in a Hayes microbus on Jasim Uddin Road, Uttara, due to engine overheating. No injuries were reported. According to initial assessments, a faulty engine or a short circuit could also have caused the fire. The front section of the microbus was burnt.

Airport Police Station OC Taslima Akter confirmed, “This is not an act of terrorism. The fire broke out while the engine was running. After the driver parked the vehicle by the roadside, he was seen running around the area. We could not find him at the scene initially, but later contacted him.”
