Midnight Raid in Dinajpur Park, 52 Fined

In the early hours of Thursday, 22 January, a mobile court imposed fines on 52 individuals for congregating at the LGED Park in Biral, Dinajpur, during late-night hours. The operation, conducted by police in conjunction with the mobile court, targeted youths, students, and adult citizens found assembling in the park without proper cause.

During the raid, officials meticulously inspected all areas of the park. According to local sources, it is not uncommon for groups to gather at the park after dark. However, such unregulated assemblies pose safety risks and often evade the scrutiny of law enforcement.

Executive Magistrate Ishtiaq Ahmed, leading the mobile court, stated, “Over fifty people were present at the LGED Park in a disorderly manner late at night, prompting this action. Under Section 291 of the Bangladesh Penal Code 1860, each individual has been fined BDT 3,000. The fines were collected immediately, and all individuals were released on the spot.”

A total of BDT 156,000 was collected in fines. Such mobile court operations are carried out regularly, not only to enforce the law but also to ensure public safety and security within the park.

Local residents reported that the park is typically a hub for social and recreational activities among young people. However, gatherings during the late hours create unusual situations that may compromise safety.

Authorities view this intervention as an effective measure to raise public awareness about the importance of adhering to the law and exercising social responsibility. By actively monitoring the park during nighttime hours, the mobile court demonstrates the law enforcement agencies’ commitment to maintaining public order, safety, and tranquillity. Officials hope that such measures will further encourage the local population to comply with legal regulations and respect communal spaces.

The operation in Biral exemplifies the proactive role of law enforcement in safeguarding public spaces and reinforcing civic discipline, even during late-night hours.
