Missing Patuakhali Man Found Dead After Three Days

In Patuakhali’s Kalapara Upazila, police recovered the body of a young man, three days after he went missing. The deceased has been identified as Ferdous Munshi, 38, a resident of Madhukhali village under Mithaganj Union and son of Rahman Munshi. His body was discovered on the banks of Sapuria Canal on Sunday (11 January) at approximately 1:00 pm.

According to police and local sources, Ferdous had left his home on Thursday night around 9:00 pm to check on his ailing father and never returned. His family conducted extensive searches across the area but were unable to locate him.

Early on Sunday morning, locals noticed fresh signs of soil disturbance on the canal’s bank. Suspicious of the activity, they removed the soil and found Ferdous Munshi’s body buried beneath. Authorities were immediately informed.

The body was found with a nylon rope around the neck, indicating possible strangulation. He was dressed in a pair of shorts and a jumper, and his left hand’s ring finger had been severed.

Kalapara Circle’s Additional Superintendent of Police, Sameer Sarkar, said, “Preliminary investigation suggests that Ferdous Munshi was deliberately killed using strangulation. Police are making every effort to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.” He also confirmed that the body has been sent to the morgue for a post-mortem examination and that legal action will follow once the investigation concludes.
