In a concerted effort to curb illegal commercial activities within residential areas, the Capital Development Authority (RAJUK) conducted a mobile court operation in Sector-4 of Uttara, Dhaka. The operation targeted businesses operating unlawfully on residential plots, including restaurants, fast-food outlets, and other commercial establishments.
The operation took place on Sunday, 28 December, under the supervision of Executive Magistrate Md. Sabuj Hasan, with oversight from RAJUK Zone-2/1. During the raid, multiple establishments were sealed, unauthorised electricity connections were disconnected, and meters were confiscated. Business owners were also required to submit written undertakings to cease their illegal activities.
Executive Magistrate Md. Sabuj Hasan emphasised the importance of maintaining residential areas free from commercial exploitation. “Such operations will continue regularly to ensure that residential zones in Uttara Sector-4 remain free from unauthorised commercial activities. Mobile courts will be conducted periodically to enforce the law,” he said.
According to officials, the operation resulted in the closure of several prominent outlets, including Azoa, Testy, Hot Cake, and Bismillahir Sweets. Despite these actions, no measures were reportedly taken against local clubs or schools, even though they contribute significantly to traffic congestion due to illegal parking along major roads, particularly on 9th Road. The area is further complicated by the presence of two schools, the Bangladesh Club, the Army Police Battalion office, and the RAJUK cemetery.
The mobile court operation was carried out under the comprehensive supervision of RAJUK authorised officer Md. Hasanuzzaman, assisted by the Assistant Authorised Officer, Chief Building Inspector, and other relevant RAJUK officials.
