Mother and Daughter Murdered Over Mere Two Thousand Taka!

In a horrifying and shocking incident in Mohammadpur, Dhaka, the lives of a mother and her teenage daughter were brutally cut short over a paltry sum of money. The police have confirmed that the domestic worker Ayesha and her husband Rabbi orchestrated the cold-blooded murders of their employer, Laila Firoz, and her 15-year-old daughter, Nafisa Lawal binti Aziz, in a meticulously planned attack sparked by a dispute over just 2,000 taka. Both perpetrators have since been arrested.

Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, S. N. Md. Nazrul Islam, provided details during a press briefing on Thursday afternoon. He explained that preliminary investigations revealed an argument between Laila Firoz and Ayesha regarding the alleged theft of the small sum. Enraged by the confrontation, Ayesha returned the following day armed with a knife and fatally attacked Laila. At the time, Nafisa was asleep, but the struggle woke her. As she attempted to alert the house guard via the intercom, she too was mercilessly murdered.

Following the killings, Rabbi assisted his wife in fleeing Dhaka, but police swiftly tracked him down and arrested him.

Authorities recovered the bodies of Laila, 48, and Nafisa, 15, from their Mohammadpur residence on Monday, 8 December. Laila’s husband, schoolteacher A. J. M. Azizul Islam, promptly filed a murder complaint with Mohammadpur Police Station the same night.

The brutality of this crime, motivated solely by a paltry 2,000 taka, has left the local community reeling in fear and grief. Residents have expressed deep concern over the apparent erosion of household safety, highlighting the psychological toll such violent acts inflict on ordinary citizens.

Commissioner Nazrul Islam emphasised the police’s commitment to ensuring justice: “We are determined that such barbaric crimes find no place in our society. The accused will face the full weight of the law without delay.”

Investigations are ongoing, and the police are continuing to explore whether any additional accomplices were involved in this shocking double murder.
