On Tuesday evening, multiple explosions and terrorist attacks rattled several cities across Iran, with Tabriz and Ahvaz being notably affected. According to Majid Farsi, Director General of the Disaster Management Department in East Azerbaijan Province, Tabriz witnessed two deadly attacks in rapid succession.
The first attack occurred in a residential building in the Marzdaran district, resulting in four fatalities and six injuries. Among the wounded, several are reported to be in critical condition. Farsi indicated that the force of the explosion was sufficient to cause structural damage to the building, spreading panic across the surrounding neighbourhood.
The second incident took place in Rab-e Rashidi Park, where two people lost their lives. Several families were present in the park at the time, but officials noted that the timely evacuation of the area may have prevented a higher death toll.
At this stage, no group has claimed responsibility for the attacks, and no independent sources have confirmed the identity of the perpetrators. Likewise, neither the United States nor Israel has issued any public comment regarding these incidents.
Local authorities have mobilised medical teams to treat the injured at nearby hospitals. Security forces have cordoned off the affected areas and are gathering evidence, including CCTV footage, to assist with the investigation.
A summary of the attacks is presented in the table below:
| Location | Type of Attack | Fatalities | Injured | Initial Details |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Marzdaran, Tabriz | Residential building explosion | 4 | 6 | Structural damage to the building; widespread panic |
| Rab-e Rashidi Park, Tabriz | Park explosion | 2 | Unknown | Several families present; deaths limited due to early evacuation |
Provincial authorities and security forces are intensifying their investigation to determine the motives behind the attacks and to identify potential organisers. While residents remain alarmed, the government has assured the public that the situation is under control and that measures are being strengthened to prevent further terrorist activities.
The incidents have heightened tension within Iran’s social and political landscape. International observers have expressed concern over the surge in terrorist attacks within the country. The attacks also highlight vulnerabilities in Iran’s internal security and defence systems, emphasising the urgent need for stricter preventive measures to safeguard urban centres from similar threats in the future.
