The National Citizen Party (NCP) has announced its readiness to participate in the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election. The party’s convener, Nahid Islam, said the list of candidates will be published by 15 November.
He stated that the NCP intends to field candidates in all 300 constituencies. However, the party may refrain from nominating candidates in the seats where BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia will contest, as a gesture of respect for her role in the July uprising.
Speaking on Wednesday after meeting the family of Shaheed Gazi Salauddin, who died from injuries sustained during the July mass uprising, Nahid Islam shared the party’s plans. He added that although the NCP is preparing to contest independently, it may consider joining an alliance if any party supports their reform agenda and the “July Charter”.
He also criticised the interim government, alleging that inadequate medical care for July fighters has led to a continued rise in fatalities.
