New Faces Illuminate Dhallywood This Eid

This Eid, Dhallywood welcomes a wave of fresh talent to the silver screen. Several new actors are making their big-screen debuts, including both local artistes and newcomers from Tollywood. Audiences have been treated to an array of performances, signalling the arrival of a vibrant new generation in Bangladeshi cinema.

Pressure Cooker Launches Snigdha and Maria

Snigdha Chowdhury and Maria Shanta made their cinematic debuts in Raihan Rafi’s Pressure Cooker. Snigdha, a model for over five years, was initially set to debut in Raihan Rafi’s Rasta (2022), opposite Siam Ahmed. Although shooting began, the project remained incomplete. Her long-awaited entry into Dhallywood has now been realised with Pressure Cooker.

Snigdha expressed her excitement: “It was supposed to happen over three years ago, but it didn’t. Finally working with Raihan Rafi is a joy. The audience response has been encouraging, and I hope my journey continues on this positive path.”

Maria, who started in modelling and has over two years of television acting experience, said: “This is my first film, and I feel both nervous and thrilled. Being part of such a beautiful story in Pressure Cooker is truly wonderful.”

Bonolota Express Introduces Sabrina and Masha

Tanim Noor’s Bonolota Express introduces young actors alongside seasoned stars. Sabrina Azad makes her first released film appearance, while singer Masha Islam debuts in acting.

Sabrina shared: “Even though this is my second film to shoot, it is my first to release. Filming was full of laughter, and the audience’s response has been fantastic. I hope this success paves the way for my future projects.”

Masha said: “The director asked me if I wanted to act, and after auditioning, I was chosen. Appearing on the big screen feels like a dream. My role may be small, but it is crucial to the story.”

Rakshas Marks Sadnima’s Big-Screen Debut

Former child actress Sadnima Binte Noman, who appeared in TV dramas and the web film Little Miss Chaos, made her Dhallywood debut with Mehedi Hasan Hridoy’s Rakshas.

Tollywood Stars Step Into Dhallywood

Several Tollywood actresses also entered Dhallywood this Eid. Jyotirmoyee Kundu, co-starring with Shakib Khan in Abu Hayat Mahmud’s Prince: Once Upon a Time in Dhaka, makes her Dhallywood debut. Previously, she appeared in television series and Tollywood’s Projapoti 2.

Sushmita Chattopadhyay, appearing in Rakshas, also debuts in Dhallywood. She began her career in Tollywood with Prem Tem (2021) and subsequently acted in films such as Chengiz and Manush. Despite the challenge of transitioning to Dhallywood, Sushmita expressed admiration for Bangladeshi audiences’ warmth.
