India Establishes New Military Bases Along Border

Amid political unrest in Bangladesh, India has rapidly established a new military base in North Dinajpur, West Bengal. A new army station is also being set up in Dhubri, Assam, as part of strengthening border security.

On Thursday, Lieutenant General R C Tiwari, head of the Eastern Command, inspected the Chopra base in North Dinajpur. He praised the professionalism and hard work of the deployed troops and urged them to maintain peak readiness.

Tiwari also met with local MLAs and civic leaders to emphasise the importance of military and civilian cooperation for regional security and development. In Assam, the foundation stone for the Lachit Barphukan Military Station has been laid, named after the legendary Ahom commander to symbolise courage, leadership, and heritage revival.

The new bases are expected to play a crucial role in strengthening regional military capabilities and infrastructure. During the visit, the security situation and progress of infrastructure development in the border areas were reviewed.
