NHCX Launch Marks New Era in Health Claims

Sangareddy, India — In a major stride towards simplifying India’s complex health insurance landscape, the National Health Authority (NHA) has launched the National Health Claims Exchange (NHCX). The platform aims to standardise health insurance claims processing and facilitate seamless interoperability across the nation’s healthcare ecosystem. The announcement was made during the NHCX Innovation Meet, held at the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad) on 6–7 March 2026.

Dr Sunil Kumar Barnwal, CEO of NHA, highlighted the transformative potential of the platform, stating, “The complexity of health insurance claims has long been a challenge for India’s health ecosystem. NHCX is designed not just for hospitals or insurers but for the entire healthcare system. Patients, healthcare providers, insurers, and technology innovators all form part of this integrated ecosystem. Our long-term vision aligns with digital public infrastructure models like UPI, where users need not know the institutions operating the system, yet trust it due to its seamless and reliable performance.”

The two-day event emphasised the critical role of digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and data-driven systems in streamlining claims processes while improving healthcare quality. Participants underlined that innovation and collaboration among stakeholders are essential to realise an interoperable and efficient health insurance framework.
