Notorious ‘Killer Babu’ Stabbed to Death in Narayanganj

In the early hours of Thursday, 5 March, Riaz Uddin Babu, the infamous leader of the Nara (Naura) gang, widely known as “Killer Babu”, was fatally stabbed in Fatulla, Narayanganj. His associate, Liton, was also attacked during the incident and is currently receiving medical treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Circumstances of the Attack

The stabbing occurred at approximately 4:00 am near Panchabati Mor on the Dhaka–Narayanganj old road. Police are actively investigating the identities of those responsible for the attack. While Babu died shortly after arrival at the hospital, Liton remains in a critical but stable condition.

SI Miraj Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Fatulla Model Police Station, commented:
“At this stage, we do not know who carried out the attack on Babu and Liton. Once Liton regains sufficient health, we will question him to identify the perpetrators.”

Riaz Uddin Babu, aged 40, was a resident of Lalpur Poushapukurpara, Fatulla, and the son of the late Hafiz Uddin. He first gained notoriety after being implicated in the brutal murder of a teenage girl named Hasina, who was killed in 14 pieces. This heinous act earned him the moniker “Killer Babu”.

Babu had long-standing involvement in criminal activities across the region. His gang, commonly referred to as the Naura (Nara) Force, was notorious for armed robbery and extortion along the Dhaka–Narayanganj Old Road, spanning from Panchabati Ban Division to Loha Market.

Police records indicate Babu faced multiple charges, including five murder cases, numerous armed robberies, and assaults on student movements opposing discrimination. He was officially listed as a recognised criminal by law enforcement authorities.
