Notorious terrorist Ben Q. Hriday arrested in a military operation

In a decisive overnight operation, the Bangladesh Army has apprehended the notorious militant Ben Q Hridoy from the Jhauchhar Bou Bazar area under the jurisdiction of Hazaribagh Police Station in Dhaka.

The operation was carried out on Saturday, 27 December, around 11:30 pm by a specialised unit of the 46th Independent Infantry Brigade, known as ‘Ajeyo-4’. Acting on confidential intelligence, the alert team successfully captured Hridoy, who had evaded multiple previous attempts by law enforcement agencies, including the Detective Branch (DB) police, local police, and the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). Following preliminary interrogation, he was formally handed over to Hazaribagh Police on Sunday, 28 December, around midday.

Army sources confirmed that Hridoy had been under surveillance due to his prolonged involvement in criminal and militant activities across the Jhauchhar, Hazaribagh, and Koighat areas. He is reported to have led several criminal networks in the region, orchestrating acts of intimidation and violence. Despite repeated operations against him, Hridoy had managed to avoid capture until this latest mission.

A recent search conducted by the army at a location linked to Hridoy resulted in the seizure of a substantial cache of locally made firearms, although he had escaped at that time. In the most recent operation, a single locally made weapon was recovered from his possession, according to military sources. Necessary legal procedures were followed before handing him over to local law enforcement.

Hazaribagh Police Sub-Inspector Abu Saeed Chowdhury stated that a comprehensive investigation is ongoing. “The individual was apprehended during a joint army operation on Saturday night. He was transferred to the police station on Sunday with a locally made firearm. Legal proceedings are underway,” Chowdhury said.
