Online Recharge Now Available for Metro Rail Cards

From Tuesday, passengers can recharge Rapid Pass and MRT Pass cards online. Using any online banking method, including credit cards, bKash, Nagad, and Rocket, users can top up their cards from anywhere.

The service was inaugurated at Agargaon Metro Station at noon. Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant for Roads, Bridges and Railways Sheikh Moinuddin was the chief guest. Additional Secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Division Nikhil Kumar Das attended as special guest, and Nilima Akhtar, Executive Director of Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA), presided over the event.

Sheikh Moinuddin said the initiative represents a significant step in digital transformation in public transport. The online recharge service allows passengers to safely and quickly top up their cards anytime. Nikhil Kumar Das highlighted that digital technology is key for efficient public transport and better passenger services. Nilima Akhtar noted that this service will save passengers’ time and expand cashless payment systems.

A total of 32 Add Value Machines (AVMs) have been installed across 16 metro stations, two per station. Online recharge will activate when the card is tapped on the AVM. Next month, a metro app will be launched to simplify online recharges further.
