Police Nab Ten Suspects in Major Jatrabari Raid

Metropolitan law enforcement has reported a significant breakthrough in its ongoing battle against urban crime following the successful conclusion of a twenty-four-hour tactical sweep in the Jatrabari area. Operating under the evocative codename ‘Operation Devil Hunt Phase-2’, officers from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) focused their efforts on several notorious criminal hotspots within the precinct. This intensified presence resulted in the arrest of ten individuals suspected of various illicit activities, marking a robust escalation in the city’s broader strategy to restore public order and safety.

The operation was not merely an exercise in manpower but a precision strike that led to the recovery of several stashes of narcotics. Police personnel confirmed the seizure of 92 Yaba tablets and 27 individual wraps of heroin, which were discovered during targeted body searches and raids on suspected hideouts. While the quantity of drugs seized serves as a deterrent to local street-level dealing, the primary objective of this phase of ‘Operation Devil Hunt’ is to dismantle the foot soldier networks that facilitate the movement of contraband through one of Dhaka’s most congested transit hubs.

The list of those apprehended includes a mix of seasoned suspects and younger associates, with ages spanning from 19 to 43 years. Among the detained are Rony Shikdar (alias Rajan), Delwar Hossain Delu, Khokon, Faisal, Shuvo Molla, two men named Mizan, Sohag, Ramzan (alias Hriday), and Ali. According to a press release issued by the DMP on Monday, all ten men are now facing formal legal charges. Following their initial processing at the station, they were transferred to judicial custody to await their court appearances. Authorities have signalled that these operations will continue as part of a long-term commitment to cleansing the district of persistent criminal elements.
