NARSINGDI, BELAB — The police’s Detective Branch (DB) have arrested two individuals from Kishoreganj in connection with the murder of prominent poultry entrepreneur Azimul Quader Bhuiya, 45, in Belab Upazila. Recovered from the suspects were the victim’s mobile phone and BDT 400,000 obtained from the sale of stolen chickens. Preliminary investigations suggest the killing was premeditated and motivated by financial gain.
According to authorities, the incident occurred on Tuesday, 23 January, when Azimul was at his poultry farm. Around 6:30 pm, he left the farm and subsequently went missing. His body was discovered on Thursday evening at 9:00 pm in a pond located in Bir Baghber village, Bajnab Union, Belab Upazila. Azimul was a former general secretary of Bajnab Union’s Chhatra League and a former joint general secretary of Belab Upazila Chhatra League.
Following the discovery, Azimul’s brother, Anwar Quader Bhuiya, filed a case at Belab Police Station, naming two farm workers along with several unidentified individuals as accused.
DB sources revealed that Azimul had employed two new workers at his farm just 15 days prior to his disappearance. Through multiple confidential sources and technological tracking, the police learned that the two fugitives were hiding in Kishoreganj. On Saturday afternoon, under the leadership of DB Deputy Inspector Mobarak Hossain, police conducted an operation in Kishoreganj, arresting one worker and a purchaser of the stolen chickens. The operation also led to the recovery of Azimul’s mobile phone and BDT 400,000 from the sale of the poultry.
The arrested individuals are:
