The President of Bangladesh, Md. Sahabuddin, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former Prime Minister and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson, Begum Khaleda Zia, highlighting her unwavering role in shaping the nation’s political landscape. In a condolence message issued on Tuesday, 30 December, the President described her contributions as historically significant and enduring.

“On the demise of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, I extend my profound grief and condolences,” President Sahabuddin stated. He emphasised that Khaleda Zia’s steadfast commitment to democracy and the protection of citizens’ rights will remain etched in Bangladesh’s political history.

The President further observed that her political career was defined by an uncompromising dedication to public service and national interest. “Her unyielding stance in advancing democratic values and safeguarding the rights of the people will be remembered for generations,” he added.
